Today we present you our new PM holding tools (PM = powder metal). At first sight not a real novelty, but the quality is in the detail.

The body of the holding tools is made of powder metal.
The advantages: Lower weight than comparable products made of steel and higher breaking strength than comparable holders made of zinc die-cast.
Further advantages: Narrow dimensional tolerances with better material and energy economy – The manufacturing process is therefore more environmentally friendly. The PM holding tools are designed for use in industrial production.
Powder metal consists of metallic powder with different material composition (main components: Fe, Cu, C). It is
are cold formed by pressing and the formed parts are then sintered at temperatures between 1180 and 1700 degrees. The finished workpiece is then nitrided.
The handles of the holding tools are treated according to the QP process. During this process, thermochemical nitrogen and carbon compounds are incorporated and the workpiece is then nitrided and polished.
The advantages: High corrosion resistance, high surface hardness with increased fatigue strength. The process is more environmentally friendly than other methods of corrosion protection by surface treatment.
